Dr Sylwia Serafinowicz
Curator, Writer and Academic Tutor

Dr Sylwia Serafinowicz is a curator, writer, and academic tutor based in London. She currently works as an Exhibition Curator at The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, towards an exhibition celebrating Bartlett’s future-building legacy to mark UCL’s Bicentenary in 2026. She is also a NEW INC Mentor at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.
Serafinowicz was born in Warsaw, spent a year studying history of film and philosophy at the Université Denis Diderot - Paris VII and working at the Pompidou Centre before settling in London in 2010. Serafinowicz sees exhibitions, public programmes, teaching, and digital platforms as opportunities to forge better, equal futures. Serafinowicz graduated with a PhD in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art and an MA in History of Art from the University of Warsaw. Her PhD thesis was dedicated to the dynamic relationship between photography, moving image, and performance. Serafinowicz continues to work at the intersection of arts, emerging technologies and public benefit. She was Managing Director of Blessed Foundation, Chief Curator at a/political and Collections Curator at the Wroclaw Contemporary Museum. Curated projects include a series of talks and a podcast FUTURE-PROOF, an exhibition and digital platform We Protect You From Yourselves, 2021, exhibitions Fields of Vision, 2024, Labor Relations, 2016, and Wild at Heart, 2018 and solo shows by Kendall Geers, Franko B, kennardphillipps, Shikeith, Chila Kumari Burman, Ewa Axelrad, and Daniel Malone. She is a published author, with essays featured in Artforum, Afterall Art School, Contemporary Lynx, Not. Fot, Art and Documentation amongst other outlets. Serafinowicz is a member of the British Art Network and the Executive Committee of AICA UK.
